ABOUT US.
My name is Saskia Dockrill and I live with my husband Ron and our son Paul in Canora.
I have been involved with horses since I was just 10 years old. After years of riding lessons, english dressage and jumping, I got my first pony when I was 13 years old and she was with me for 20 years.
At one time I had 6 horses and they were all dear to me. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to give them all the so needed attention. I had to sell 4 of them and was very happy to find great homes for them. They are doing wonderful.
I kept two horses, Flicka and Freya.
Flicka is a 7 year old 12.3 hh pony mare and Freya is a 5 year old 14 hh Norwegian Fjord mare.
I started Clicker Training with them and right from the beginning they just loved it.
Every time we work on something , it's such a great pleasure to see how they do their best to understand what I want from them. The 'Ahaa' moment in their eyes, once they understand the task I asked for, is priceless.
When I work with a clients problem horse, and the owner sees the " for 7 years hard to catch" horse walking up to me and following me after a few minutes of clicker training........the WOW moment in their eyes is priceless too.
My husband Ron is very supportive and helps me out with many chores around the horses. He is also my camera man and does a great job! Minus 21c and still making movies of me , working with a horse.....how much more supportive can you be?
I teach people how to use Clicker Training for horses in the proper way.
Since I learned about Clicker Training and started to experience the great benefits of training horses with positive reinforcement, I could only think about one thing: more people should know about this!
I took the Clicker Training Courses for horses with Leslie Pavlich and this has given me the knowledge to help other people to start with clicker training their horse. I helped out some friends who had problems with their horse and the results are amazing. My friends were wondering why they never heard about this form of working with a horse before.
I was thinking the same thing!
By giving private lessons and clinics I hope to help other people to get a good start with clicker training their horse and benefit from this wonderfull training method.
I have trained many horses with problems. Their owners had a hard job to deal with those issues. With clicker training I could help the horse and their owner. Both got a second chance of a better relationship and mutual understanding.
I hope to enhance my clicker training skills to higher levels.
I believe that my students should get the best start with clicker training their horse and for that reason I will continue to upgrade my knowledge. The horses I train will help me, as they are the best teachers!
Beside teaching clicker training for horse owners, I also make Rhythm Beads sets for horses. During a trail ride the sound of the little bells will let wildlife know of your presence and they will move away. I don't like to ride with a horse that spooks because a deer jumps out of the bushes so it's not just a nice accessory.
It also helps the horse to focus on its task as it will cover the surrounding sounds.
Of course they also look great on a horse!
Creating a rhythm beads set takes many hours but it's my way of winding down after a busy day.
